Today the 40 is new 30. As women age gracefully and have more options in the choice of a romantic partner. With couples like Demi and Ashton, older women and younger men couples are more socially acceptable. While younger men offer an exhilarating ride, older women need to discover what they want and consider these 7 reasons they may or may not want to date a younger man.

An international relationship expert Lucia, an author of a widely successful book Lessons of Love, a host “The Art of Love” on L.A. Talk Radio, dated extensively in 6 cities in 4 different countries and admits that she loves dating younger men. In addition to being featured on over 100 national and international radio and TV Shows, including “Dr. Phil”, “The CBS Early Show”, “60 Minutes Australia”, “The Tyra Banks Show”, "E! Entertainment", "The KTLA Morning Show", "Fox 5 News", “Playboy Radio" and “Cosmo Radio”, in our exclusive interview Lucia discusses pros and cons of dating younger men.

Years ago, women got married in their 20s and 30s and stayed married, so there were not a lot of older women available to date younger man. Today as women stay more youthful and beautiful longer, this new idea of dating a younger man is becoming common. Younger men are also becoming more open to this type of relationship: “The young men are all for it, they definitely see the advantages” Lucia added. People are beginning to see that sexy doesn’t stop at 35.

As Lucia puts it: “If you are over 18 and love each other, who cares?” but most likely you won’t see a lot of relationships with 15, 20 or over age difference. Lucia added: “In 15% of the marriages now the man is younger, even if it’s by a year or two.” In the US men mature later, but generally men who are over 25 are a marriage material.

According to Lucia, lots of older women these days are full of energy and life. They don’t want to feel trapped in a relationship with an older man who is stuck in his ways or requires caretaking.

A younger man is going to be more willing to try new things and step into new adventures with ease and excitement. This is true in and out of the bedroom. A younger man is more likely to be up for a night of dancing until dawn or a long night of playful, passionate romance.

A younger man is less s likely to have alimony payments and weekend visitations with kids, etc. He’s less likely to be bitter about love.

Younger men are better at handling stress. A recent study published in the Psychophysiology journal revealed that older men have elevated cardiovascular, autonomic and endocrine responses to stress. The ability to handle stress can be a significant factor in the success of a healthy relationship, especially if managed effectively.

With new advancements in plastic surgery and the accessibility of healthier, organic food, women in their 40s and 50s are in top physical shape, looking years younger their biological age. One recent study revealed that women are getting more attractive through evolution.

Although, one study found smiling men as less sexually attractive, no one is scrutinizing the sex appeal of a younger man who regularly hits the gym to keep his body in top shape. Great metabolism doesn’t hurt at keeping the work feel easy. Younger guys can spend hours training with his buddies and less likely to develop a beer belly. Younger men have the stamina and carefree attitude to satisfy their need for a wild ride.

Although younger guys try harder to please older women and women get to feel more in charge, a younger man is more invested in financial and professional success. Lucia explains that a younger man may travel more for work, work more hours and is more likely to relocate to follow employment opportunities. A woman looking to date a younger man needs to be fairly independent to feel secure with getting less of his time and attention.

Younger men are in no rush to settle down, unless they find ‘the one’. According to Lucia, men under 25 are more likely not to commit or be marriage-minded. She warns women who are looking to date younger to watch out for some of the warning signs of a player: he doesn’t take you out of the bedroom for actual dates; you never get to meet his friends and family; he always calls last minute; he never asks you questions about yourself.

Lucia also advises women who are looking for a relationship with a younger man to be careful about having sex prematurely; “Women who want a serious relationship need to take themselves seriously and not jump into bed with someone they barely know, who isn’t in love with them and hasn’t made a commitment.” Younger men know the art of seduction really well.

Lucia advises “cougars in training” to never pick up the bill in the early stages of dating younger men. When an older woman assumes financial responsibility, she sets herself up for the role of a “sugar mama.” Men want to feel like they can take care of a woman’s needs. They want to feel their contribution, the power to provide. Once a woman starts opening her wallet, a younger man is more likely to feel mothered.

Lucia goes into depth about the dangers of “mothering” a younger man. She advises smart women not to make the opposite sex feel lectured or scolded; “Even if you know more than him, you can’t tell him what to do all the time. Controlling and managing a man puts a woman in her masculine energy instead of her feminine. A man is more likely to lose attraction and feel emasculated if you are trying to compete with his masculinity.”
